This modern hotel with 70 units in the old city centre in Tartu is placed on a plot of 1380m2 in consideration of the dense historic context. It forms an ending to a relatively well-established perimetric quarter thus filling a historic gap next to Pirogov Square. Similarly to the former building at 14 Ülikooli Street and the nearby architectural milieu, the new building also strives for order and simplicity. The initial aim was to join the various services so as to make them as comfortable as possible for the guests. The search for the appropriate volume was based on providing the quarter with a sense of completion. The service rooms are discreetly overlooking the inner courtyard. The focus thus lies in making the building observable and accessible from various directions.
